Our Green Credentials

Penguin Books (UK) Ltd , of which DK is a division, was the first major publishing company in the UK to adopt a public paper purchasing policy, having consulted our suppliers and environmental groups such as WWF and Greenpeace.

We were also the first major publishing company to sign up as a member of the WWF-UK Forest Trade Network (FTN). Together with Greenpeace, the WWF-UK-FTN promote the use of the Forest Stewardship certification as the only option that provides independent third-party verification of sustainability claims. Penguin was a founder member of the group of UK publishers (PRELIMS) looking to establish an industry-wide Social Accountability standard in line with the UN Global Compact.
