Easter behind us, but few of the team actually had time to enjoy it.
As a result of the London Book Fair, the print run starts rising, exponentially. We're piling more designers onto the project, and a separate repro team is being assembled. Richard is slogging through increasingly large downloads of Bill's diaries (already edited back by the Man), but we're only half-way through the 14 chapters planned for the book. And only three months to go.
Jake and Victoria are managing the project brilliantly, but not managing to get anywhere near the text. The damned thing is just getting bigger, and time is running out. No one is getting home much before ten in the evening, and every other day starts with a nine o'clock chapter meeting. Weekends become a distant memory. Foreign sales begin to absorb more time as contracts begin to get signed up: we have to supply material for translation to Norway, Germany, Italy and France, but we know the raw copy is a million miles away from what the final product will be. We warn them; we warn them.
