Bill agrees to release large amounts of his store of personal photographs for the book. This gives us not only the edge to build pages with a healthy sprinkling of unseen material; it also presents the team with another logistical nightmare in terms of selecting and scanning. Something like 2000 transparencies and prints arrive in the office.
We're already paying the penalty of simply ordering high-resolution scans from agencies to cut corners; meanwhile Maria, our brilliant picture researcher, has managed to get some more photographic heavy hitters on board, Ethan Russell, the late Michael Cooper via his son, and the legendary Dominic Thale, a fraction of whose pictures have only ever been seen in expensive limited editions. And now we take over the DK picture departments scanners with Bill's collection. God knows how many scans are sitting on the server, but you can hear the bastard wheezing from my office on the 7th floor.
Richard H joins the team in the office for a final pass through Chapters 1-9, before heading north to complete the rest of the text. We get the Indexer going on the first chapters, and have a lawyer booked for a legal health-check.
