Your body changes

Week 28 is often the stage at which being pregnant starts to make a difference to your every day life, as you become accustomed to manoeuvring yourself with your increasing bump.

Other changes

  • You may have rib pain caused by the pressure of your baby
  • You may get a stitch-like pain down the side of your abdomen as you walk
  • You're gaining more weight

Facts about you:

  • From now on, you'll see your caregiver (midwife, GP, or obstetrician) every two weeks
  • Your breasts may leak colustrum, although some women don't produce this until the baby is born.
  • You may be short of breath when you exert yourself due to the upward pressure of the uterus on your lungs and diaphragm.
  • You may develop varicose veins, due to the pressure on your legs.
