Barbara Moses' Career Counsel
Focus on what you are affirming in your choices, rather
than what you are giving up. In thinking about work-life balance,
people describe making trade-offs, for example "I'm
going to work fewer hours and trade-off my career to spend
more time with my kids". The language of trade offs,
though, emphasises the negative rather than the positive
what you are losing rather than what you are liberating. Instead
of talking about making trade-offs, think "trade-ons".
