'Both my partner and I are beginners with our DSLR and looking for some hints and tips about what we can do with it. This book has given us some wonderful ideas about how to get the best out of our camera. From the stunning photographs to the easy to understand instructions that go alongside them we found it to be very helpful. The only criticism we found was that for some of the techniques photoshop would be advised when we know that the same effects can be achieved through manipulation of the camera''s settings.'

'This book is lovely to look at and read. It handles very well as a coffee table book, peppered with stunning photographs. The way the author organised the content makes it simple and easily understood by budding enthusiasts. I particularly like the section "Composing the Image" as it effectively discusses individual elements that produce a good picture. The "Subject and Styles" section contains a wide selection of photographic subjects and ideas. I can easily plan 6 months worth of weekend shoots from this section alone.
The book is truly stimulating and will benefit anyone who wants to become a serious photographer. It would be interesting to see an accompanying book, in a more portable size, containing more technical info, i.e. how to set-up a shot, how to configure camera settings appropriately, etc.'

'This authoritative guide to the world of digital photography brings together in one volume helpful instruction and advice that photographers need to update their skills to create successful images. It is written in clear, jargon-free language and is fully illustrated with inspiring examples ranging from the lighting in photographs to capturing photographs of moving water.I think what makes this book are the amazing photographs, the richness of the colours and the varied subjects. For the price it is an excellent book but I would have prefered it to have been hardback. It is ideal for both amatuers and professionals.Hopefully from now on I can take more breathtaking photographs whilst travelling.'

'This is a subject both my partner and myself are very interested in, We have many books on digital photography and we must admit this is one of the best we have read, Not only are the images within the book beautiful they really do give you food for thought, Pictures we would have never thought of taking. The explainations of how to re-create some pictures shown in the book are not very straight forward, Probably because this is difficult to explain without knowing the specific camera your using, However, the way the book manages to explain the different techniques to capture a varied style of images in a way you can relate to is fantastic, This book is worth every penny to Amateur and proffesional photographers alike, I would suggest buying in hardback copy as this is a book to keep for future generations.
Fantastic read + Great Photography = 9/10

'The Art of Digital Photography provides an insightful look at some of the key techniques that will help create beautiful images, aimed clearly at the beginner. Practical advice is demonstrated in large colour photographs, to illustrate techniques. The text gives useful advice, but there is no question that it is the photographs themselves that are the star of this book. A range of photographic styles and approaches gives a good flavour of what can be achieved with digital cameras, and many of these pictures are very beautiful. The book probably best serves as inspiration for things to try, as the advice on how to achieve the results the book shows plays second fiddle to showcasing the photos themselves. Overall, though, a good book to provide inspiration and ideas for things the beginner might like to try. Worth purchasing.'
