'What a fantastic book! It will be a best seller due to the popularity of Richard Hammond to both adults (Top Gear) and children (Brainiac and Blast Lab). As well as containing lots of incredible experiments (which are so easy to follow), the book is peppered with an incredible amount of interesting facts that the reader can''t fail to absorb, as they are presented in such an exciting manner. This book makes science fun!!!! '

'A bright shiny cover welcomes you into the exciting world of Richard Hammonds ''Blast Lab'' which is based on his hit TV series. Like the TV programme, the book looks exciting, scientific, educational and fun! The pages are busy with a nice mix of photographs and line drawn cartoons. It is written and doodled in the style of a notepad with its ring bindings visible down the spine. The book opens with a welcome page especially written to the reader by Richard Hammonds - this is a nice touch to greet the child into his book and tell them what it is all about! The contents page shows that there are six chapters based upon such things as flight, colour, unusual happenings, gooey yucky things, fun food and sound. Each chapter is packed full with a mix of information, science facts, and fun experiments to try at home with household items. The factual science bits are explained in an interesting fun way and backed up with a glossary at the back of the book. The experiments are described in a clear step by step format with nice photographs. Suggestions are added to give variations to the experiment results, and it always ends with the scientific bit ''HOW DOES IT WORK'' which was really interesting and useful to know. This is a lovely book which any child with a thirst for science and knowledge would love to own. Equally it''s an ideal gift for anyone who likes Richard Hammond or watches his TV series! '

'This book is a excellent collection of science activities well aimed at budding scientists. It is clearly set out in a formula to appeal to reluctant readers who would like to carry out practical fun tests,without them necessarily realising that they are being provided with the facts behind the experiments, to help understand what and why things occur. The language used is concise, but clearly understood by the target age group. Simple photography helps with the appeal of this book.The experiments need mainly household items which mean they were easy to attempt and fun activities to try. Adults could learn a thing or two from this book as well.'

'A superb book. The children and I had endless fun, made lots of noise and created a few bangs. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to encourage children to have fun with science. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Richard Hammond has the kudos to start the ball rolling, the book does the rest!'
