'This book is full of eyecatching, colour pictures and also tells you all about some of the ingredients used in the book. My 3 year old son loved looking at the pictures and my 7 year old son liked reading about the ingredients.
The recipes were easy to follow and my 7 year old son managed the recipes we tried with very little help from me. There was a good mix of savoury and sweet recipes although I would have liked a few more recipes with meat.
The Honey Cakes were really eay to make and tasted delicious and they loved making the bees out of marzipan.
All the recipes used ingredients that I had in the cupboard and freezer which was great as we could try the recipes without having to go on a shopping trip first.'

'What a brilliant cook book! My children have spent the Easter holidays arguing as to whose turn it was to cook. All four of them (aged between 8 and 11)have found the recipes easy to follow and the results delicious. They are already keen on baking and were initially attracted to the Chocolate Truffles & the Honey Cakes, but it was not long before they were branching out to some of the adventurous savoury recipes. They found the recipes easy to follow and liked the photographs of children preparing the food.
We found the information pages on the 10 main ingredients interesting, and liked the fact that it showed the origins of the food, which can often be forgotten in our supermarket society.
The children enjoyed getting artistic with the food they had cooked, using the tips in the book. I''ve a feeling I won''t be able to serve tomato soup again without making each bowlful into a funny face!
Whilst most of the ingredients used were either in my store cupboard or easy to find, my only criticism would be the amount of equipment needed to complete the recipes. For example, although the recipe said you could use an ordinary tin for the strawberry cheesecakes, my girls were adamant they had to be heart-shaped, having seen the gorgeous looking ones in the book, so it was off to buy a set of heart-shaped tins. Then my son insisted that if he was going to make a "proper" apple and chicken curry, he would need a star shaped mould for the rice. Other equipment I did not already possess included individual pudding basins for the chocolate puddings, ramekins for the Fruit Brûlée and Potato Soufflés and a wok for the Apple and Chicken curry.
All in all, a lovely cookery book which will be used over and over again in my house.'

'What a fabulous cookery book. I''ve used Annabel Karmel books for 2 years but this is my favourite. The book takes 10 key ingredients and has 2 recipes for each one. Each section is packed with information about the ingredients, my nearly 3 year old loved looking at the banana tree and comparing the different types of tomato.
Generally the recipes were really fun to do and although the book is aimed at 5-8 year olds there was plenty of things my little one could do. He loved rolling the banana in chocolate and sprinkles to make the banana bites, bashing the biscuits to make the base for the cheescake and cutting the bases for the apple meringue pies.
There are very clear illustrations. Nearly all the ingredients were already in my cupboards which is a welcome change from most recipe books.
The only downside was the equipment used, I am now the proud owner of an apple corer, circular pastry cutters and individual pudding basins.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to do cooking with their children. The recipes are fun to make and the ones i''ve made taste great.

'Annabel Karmel has come up trumps with this cook book which is great fun for cooking with your kids and full of appetising meals and snacks. A welcome change from run of the mill books of endless fairy cakes, this book has dishes you actually might want to eat - and so will your children.
There are cakes and chocolates included (the truffles are just divine), but also more savoury fare. My children (5 and 2) enjoyed making Chicken Pittas with Yoghurt and Mint dressing - they were pronounced delicious by their hungry dad.
The recipes are grouped by different food group - so bananas, strawberries, rice, potatoes and apples to name a few. The photographic illustrations are very alluring and the recipes are just the right balance of healthy with a few treats thrown in.
I like the fact that this book does not shy away from presenting children with more adventurous items to try - the paella recipe includes prawns, which my children loved.
My only one small criticism is that a couple of the recipes (sweetcorn fritters and Rice Aranci) required shallow frying - which is fine, but not ideal if you are trying to supervise two small children cooking!
Overall I enjoy using this book with my children and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to cook with children - there is plenty for the novice cook and new ideas for the more experienced. The children pictured in the book seemed to be having fun making the food and my children did too!'
