'The best growing kids history book I''ve seen. Entertaining in its form and informative in its content. History becomes interesting again. My kids love it, specially the recent history sections as there is not much around that explains recent events to them but this book covers up to 2008!! We are looking forward to future aditions.Well done DK. What a winner!! '

'This was a great book. Chock full of exciting pictures and interesting facts, this wonderful book kept me up reading most nights. I mostly liked the stuff about World War II, becasue I think that that time period is very interesting. I also loved the fact that if I didn''t feel like reading one part because it looked boeing I could skip it and still ubderstand the rest of the book easily. Great book, 5 stars!'

'Take Me Back is a history book that tells of human development all over the world since 30,000BC. I think my favourite part was page 15. This page was funny, silly and exciting, the best part of page 15 was the wolf petting and the gift shop that tells how hunter gatherer''s day to day tasks could be fun.
The book was fascinating and every child would love to read it. The part on page 175 was all about how the Americans won their liberty from England in the 1700s but the pages I found quite boring were pages 130 and 131 about something called the Renaissance that was the only pages I found boring. It was all about art and printing.
There are lots of pages presented as little comic strips, showing us about Aztec life in the 13th century or the early Greeks. Lots of humour ensued and bright pictures make this an enjoyable read.
The book has lots of information about ancient Greece and ancient Egypt, the birth of Islam and much more.
I think because it''s so funny everyone will choose it and read it, and I think that books that are funny help children learn in a different kind of way.

'I bought this book to help me at school. I liked the clever fun informal format which helped me learn a lot of things not done in the national curiculum or only touched on briefly. I particularly liked the bit on the ancient civilisations and the bit about atlila the hun, it was done like a movie rating. '

'When the book first arrived I was very happy because I love getting new books to read! I thought it looked like a really big book and the cover was cool. I also liked the feel of the cover - it felt really smooth. I couldn''t wait to read it!
I thought the contents page was very well laid out and enjoyed the pictures on these pages.
My mum and I flicked through the pages for half an hour or so and we were both amazed at the amount of information in the book.
When I first read the book properly, I was very excited because I had never read a history book like this. I''ve read history books, but Take Me Back is the best I''ve read so far. As well as having loads of information there''s also loads of pictures to show what things looked like and to make sure you don''t get bored with just constant text.
I really liked the the information about the Stone Age because I had wanted to find out more about this time and the book had lots of information.
I also liked the comic strip ''Hanno the explorer'' which is about a man called Hanno who explored the coast of Africa in the 6th century. The pictures are really colourful and fun.
The only thing I don''t like about the book is it''s hard to read it in bed because it''s so big, but I still managed to most nights!
I''d recommend this book to people who maybe think they don''t like History so that they could learn a bit more and I''d also recommend it to people who do like history because it''s great!

'This amazing history factbook, is colourful and provides interesting infomation without being boring or patronizing - want to find out about Lucy the ape - then read the suspect lineup!
The book is well put together with facts and pictures together, but could be too graphic for 8 years olds in comic strips.'

'Colourful, jazzy, and extremely engaging, this book will surely appeal to today''s computer-savvy youngsters. The way that each subject is presented will immediately catch their attention. Computer screens, comic book formats, cartoons, jigsaws and even social networking sites are just a handful of the many original ways that readers can access the material. Every page is bursting with colour and interest. I wish we''d had such a book in the house when our children were younger. It''s an excellent first port of call for discussion, homework or simply for dipping in. Although it''s aimed at the 8-12 age group, I''m sure any child able to read would find something to interest them. Older children might want more depth of subject but it would still constitute a good starting point for their studies. Also a great book for sharing with my grand children on all sorts of levels.'
