Review by: George, Macaulay, Luke and Conor, 18 June 2009

'This is an amazing book that’s a great read, especially for boys. You can browse research or just get lost in its pages and learn about the world.
Nature: The first picture is lovely, it has got thousands of birds in it. We think that it has lovely illustrations of the albatross colony. Albatrosses spend their winter in the Falkland Islands in the Atlantic Ocean to breed. I couldn’t believe it when I read that over 500,000 of them breed there or that they only lay one egg per couple.
Plants: Did you know that the leaves are the plant’s food factories. A seed is covered by a hard coat, which protects it from fungi and bacteria. You can read and learn all about leaves of the plant.
Insect Anatomy: An insect’s head contains its brain and carries most of its organs. Did you know that a wasps mouth parts are specialised to deal with its diet. A mosquito has a sharp needle for sucking blood.
Fish: Carp are able to live in water that has very little oxygen. Carp are well equipped for life in warm, still lakes and ponds, also seahorses cling to weed with its tail because it helps it to resist strong currents.
Music: We were amazed to find out that R & B music started in the United States in the 1940’s. Women singers such as Beyonce and Lady GaGa are among the world’s top earning pop stars. Portable medias players store music on their hard drives. '
