Introduction

Whether you are just about to start your first ever project, or looking to improve an existing plot, whatever you want to tackle, Learn to Garden is your complete, step-by-step introduction to gardening.

Creating a garden is an enthralling journey of discovery but in a world where the media offers an abundance of help and advice, it can be hard to piece all this disparate information together - which is where this book comes to the rescue.

Presented in straightforward, easy-to-follow steps, each page features a team of eight "hands on " gardeners from the RHS who share their practical experience and offer sound advice to help with every problem and uncertainty a new gardener may face.

  • Guides you through all the basics from bulbs to borders and weeds to watering
  • Teaches you the fundamental rules of gardening from plant science to climate and pruning to protecting
  • Checklists make digesting crucial information easy and step-by-step photography brings the facts to life
A quick-glance season-by-season guide shows readers what should be done and when, and garden jargon and botanical names are explained succinctly.

Under the expert guidance from the RHS, Learn to Garden allows first-time gardeners to plan, develop and maintain the perfect outdoor space with confidence.

Review by: Annie Bell, 17 August 2005

I've gleaned so much out of it already. Some of which I put into practice today! All I wanted to say is THANK YOU. I am now able to look at the plants in my garden, even at this early stage and admire them for still being there and alive in the conditions some of them have had to endure. And others for how superb they will look in the future (I hope).
