Serena Williams

Serena became the top female tennis player in the world in 2002

Born in Michigan, Serena Williams is the younger of the Williams sisters and was the first to win a Grand Slam when she triumphed at the US Open in 1999.

In 2003 she achieved the "Serena Slam" winning all four Grand Slam tournaments in a row, and became the top female player in the world in 2002.

In 2000 she partnered her sister Venus to become Olympic doubles champions and in total has won five Grand Slam events and 15 other ranking titles.

In her spare time, Serena runs her own fashion label.

How to Play Tennis is her first book with DK, co-authored with her sister and published in June 2004.
