B.K.S. Iyengar
BKS Iyengar was born in India in 1918 and has been teaching yoga for 60 years. Today there are 180 Iyengar Yoga Institutes in 40 countries. Iyengar has received many prestigious awards, including Doctor of Science from the United Nations Charter of Peace, Man of the Year in Yoga Education from the American Biographical Institute and the Purna Swasthya Award from the World Federation of Societies of Holistic Medicine. At the age of 90, Iyengar still practices yoga, as well as travelling the world teaching and lecturing. The bestselling title BKS Iyengar Yoga: Path to Holistic Health has been translated into 18 languages and he is the author of 16 other books.
