St John Ambulance is the UK’s leading first aid charity. They believe that everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them and that no-one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.
Their 44,000 volunteers are committed to training, caring and saving lives, helping around 130,000 casualties annually. They are also one of the country’s largest youth organisations with more than half of their members aged under 25.
Their volunteers provide first aid at high profile national as well as local events and provide support to the statutory services, especially in times of emergency. In addition to this they have a number of community support programmes which give vital assistance to some of the most vulnerable people in society such as the homeless and the elderly. They have a range of volunteering opportunities – from the Neighbourhood First Responder Scheme to a bathing service - all of which make an immediate and real difference in the community.
The origins of St John Ambulance date back to the 11th century and since then they have continued to provide the best medical care using the latest techniques.
