Ray Smith is a renowned and highly successful artist. As well as lecturing at a number of art school including the Chelsea School of Art, the University of Plymouth and the University of Southampton, he was appointed by HM government to serve as a member of the Art Working Group for the National Curriculum in 1990. His work is represented in ten major public collections in the UK and abroad and he has won several awards including Linbury Trust Artist's Award and Royal Society of Arts - Art for Architecture Award.
Ray's work has ranged in variety from commissioned portraits in oils to major public art schemes such as "Making Waves" in Teignmouth, Devon, the largest fibre-optic lighting artwork in Europe. He has also written and illustrated a number of award-winning books, which have been published in Britain and eight countries world-wide. Ray lives in Somerset.
