Bill Bryson
Bill Bryson was born in 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up there, but has spent most of his adult life in Britain. He has worked for the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Financial Weekly and the Times, and was one of the founding journalists on the Independent.
Books published by Penguin include; The Penguin Dictionary for Writers and Editors and Mother Tongue: The English Language . Travel books include The Lost Continent , Neither Here Nor There and Notes from a Small Island . He is also the writer of a book of science, A Short History of Nearly Everything and has recently published a biography of his childhood, The Thunderbolt Kid . Now back living in the United States, he is married with four children.
